I was diagnosed with thyrotoxicosis. I do not know my readings except my FT4 was 65 and I was put on Carbimazole and told I should have RAI, or an operation. I knew nothing about the thyroid and was only told I had multinodular goitres. I refused both options the doctor gave me and eventually my thyroid returned to normal and he stopped the Carbimazole.
I had a relapse of my thyroid, this time my GP acted quickly and my reading only reached 25 (FT4). Again I was put on Carbimazole and told RAI or operation by the Specialist. He was not giving me any advice or information and I did not know what questions to ask so I again refused. Carbimazole was stopped as soon as my reading was normal.
I developed an odd rash on my legs that nearly drove me silly with the itching and stinging. I saw a dermatologist and he had no idea what it was and gave me cortisone cream to ease the itching.
